The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Palm Beach County, is expanding its partnership with PayIt with a new PayIt Express page that allows customers to purchase self-service legal forms through the PayItClerkPBC online and mobile solution. This launch further advances the digital transformation of the government experience in one of the largest counties in the United States.
Clerk’s office customers can skip a trip to the courthouse and purchase paperwork packets for divorces, custody and visitation, child support and alimony, family law motions, adoptions and name changes, paternity requests and other family law packets. Customers can also use the online portal to purchase seal and expunge packets as well as packets for eviction and other civil court matters.
This expansion of online access comes after the Clerk’s office successfully launched a PayIt Express page in March 2020, allowing customers to complete marriage forms and pay for marriage licenses. Enacted at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, this agile implementation ensured customers could become legally married while guaranteeing the safety of constituents and Clerk’s office employees alike throughout the process. It digitally delivers reference numbers and links to pay online after citizens submit the necessary forms. This quick pivot to an online platform for marriage licenses allowed the Clerk’s office to recover approximately 37% of the revenue it was projected to lose due to the reduction of in-person services from March to May 2020 because of COVID-19.
Online marriage licenses proved to be such a popular service that the Clerk’s office is continuing to provide the PayIt Express platform to process payments.
